Christmas in July Sale

From now until the end of July, I'm running a Christmas in July (CIJ) Sale of all the ACEO prints I have up on Etsy. There's one photo and one watercolor reproduction and the rest are digital art prints. Check out what I have available by clicking here.

I have been staying up too late the last couple of days. Night before last I was checking You Tube to see if the movie House of Dark Shadows was there. I just got a catalog from MPI Home Video and could get every episode of this five year gothic soap opera on DVD, but for some strange reason, neither HoDS nor the other DS movie, Night of Dark Shadows, are on DVD. They were released on VHS, but I do wish they would release them on DVD.

I also checked out some footage from some of the Dark Shadows conventions. Hard to believe Jonathan Frid (who played vampire Barnabas Collins) is 85 and will be 86 in December. He was at this year's convention though.

It will be interesting to see the new movie remake of DS whenever it comes out. Johnny Depp (sigh!) will be playing Barnabas.

NFAC contest and swaps

Well, it's time for the monthly Nibblefest (NFAC) contest on eBay, which for this month is dark art. I entered three pieces this time. One of them, "Watching," is below.

(What can I say? I just like this subject matter. :) )

Click on nitelvr to view my entries and be sure to do a search on NFAC (or click on the NFAC graphic in my auction listings) to see the other entries up for auction.

Today was my day off. I had hoped to work on some art, but I had too many mundane tasks to do. I did find a nice surprise in the mail today though--a swap ACEO card from the ACEO ~ Art Cards Editions and Originals group swap. This is a good way to start or add to an ACEO collection. I've gotten some really nice works of art from group members from swaps.

Rain! and new Zazzle listings

We got rain yesterday (it's after midnight here) and more rain is forecast for today. It probably won't help crops much, but I hope it will green up the grass and pastures.

In the last couple of days I've posted some new cards and postcards in my
zazzle store. Two feature the "Baby Squirrel" photo below and the other two use a digital photo I call "Tangled Web" (below).

I took this photo in September 2008 in Augusta Springs park.

Profile and Basil

Worked some more on my blog profile, so check it out. It was hot today. We haven't had much rain and crops around here are suffering. Our kitten, Basil, has learned to jump up on the kitchen counter so we can't leave anything out that he might want to get into. Anyone have any suggestions about how to train a cat to keep out of things? Our cat's a real handful.

New Etsy Listings

Almost forgot to mention that I recently posted two additional ACEOs on Etsy:

"Baby Squirrel" is a photograph I took with my digital camera in the local arboretum.

"Treasures" is a digital collage of scanned shells and starfish, to which I added digital shadows and created a sand and water background using a mouse and Paint Shop Pro.

ACEO TW JUL

Well, I was late posting listings to satisfy the ACEO ~ Art Cards Editions and Originals monthly contest, which began on July 1st. I put up eight listings anyway. This is the one new one I posted, a photograph I call "Geese Reflections."

The topic for July is birds. You can check out my other listings if you're interested by searching nitelvr.

ACEO ~ Art Cards Editions and Originals is a great eBay group to belong to, very supportive and inspirational.

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July, everyone! In this area, though, a lot of Fourth town celebrations took place on July 3rd. I don't know why. I think all town celebrations should have taken place today.

Thursday night, July 1st, was the monthly meeting of the Shenandoah Valley Watercolor Society, of which I'm a member. I didn't have any new watercolors to submit for critique, but several other members did. I always find the critique sessions helpful, even if it's not my work being critiqued. I hope to submit work to be reviewed for signature status in August.

I'm hoping to have new work available to enter in this year's Rockingham County Fair art competition in August too. I also plan to enter photos in the photo competition there. There's no big prize money involved. It's just fun to do.
